The database allows searching author' names, title words, source names (journals, books, theses, etc.) and concepts of four groups of descriptors (subject descriptors, geologic zones, administrative regions and geologic times) The subject descriptors include basic concepts belonging to earth sciences subjects as geodynamics, petrology, paleontology, etc. The geologic zones identify those geographic areas that have geologic characteristics in common (Ebro basin, Catalan coastal range, etc.) The administrative regions contain political-administrative divisions as States, communities or regions and provinces. The geological times are the different time periodes that share common characteristics related to historical geology. Furthermore, it's possible to limit searches with non-subject characteristics of the documents, as introduction date in the database, original language, the document type and the availability through internet in full text.
