The Rare Books and Manuscripts Library holds approximately 150.000 printed books from the 16th century to 1820, with a strong presence of European printing houses, especially from Spain, Italy, France and Portugal and to a lesser extent also Flemish, Germany and Helvetic.
The set of sermonaries (possibly the richest in Spain) together with the collection of journals from the 16th to the 18th centuries and the works of medicine and juridical sciences, are especially remarkable.
To search in the collection, three complementary catalogues and inventories ought to be consulted:
- Manual catalogue: authors and titles of anonymous works of printed books catalogued before 1984.
- Inventory of authors and anonymous works that consist in photographs of the title pages of the books not yet catalogued.
- Online catalogue of the printed books catalogued from 1985
