The rare book library collection has 2.169 manuscripts, the oldest manuscript dating from the 10th century. The 15th-17th centuries are represented in highest numbers. We can highlight the following among the most emblematic manuscripts in the library:

- F. Miquel Rosell. Inventario general de manuscritos de la biblioteca de la Universidad de Barcelona. Madrid, 1958-1969. 4 v. It includes the description of manuscripts number 1 to 2030. Manuscripts are ordered by correlative number. The content of every manuscript is described with detail and at the end there are specifications about the support, period, handwriting, place, measures, bookbinding, provenance and other relevant information.
