Títol: Library of the "Pavelló de la República" (Pavilion of the Republic)

The Municipality of Barcelona, Josep Maria Figueras and the University of Barcelona agreed, in 1994, to unite the bibliographic collections of the CEHI and the Biblioteca Figueras. A few years later, the two collections were transferred to the library of the Pavelló de la República (Pavilion of the Republic) replica of the building designed by the architects Josep Lluís Sert i Luis Lacasa in 1937. As a result of the union, this library has become one of the most important in the world on the subjects of the Spanish Second Republic, the Spanish Civil War, Exile, the period of the Franco Regime and the Transition to democracy, with a special emphasis on Catalonia.

Besides these main topics, the Library has also an important collection of documents concerning the Soviet Union and the countries within its sphere of influence, 20th century international politics and especially the Second World War. Finally, the Library has a remarkable collection on 20th century economic history of Central and South America from the Casa d'Amèrica de Barcelona, consisting of books, journals and archive materials.
