The Faculty of Economics opened for the academic year 1953-1954. The first graduation for students of Economics at the University of Barcelona taking place in 1959. In 1967 the present building, including the library, was inaugurated.
The firs collection of resources was bought with the aid of a special grant and was considered the most advanced of its day. In January 1971 the first refurbishment took place with the launching of the Newspaper Library, and since 1989 the library has been adapting its spaces and services to ever-changing needs.
The Economics Library combines research and specialized collections of the following subjects taught at the Faculty: Economics, Statistics, Sociology, Business Administration and Management, Research and Marketing Techniques, Graduate Studies in Tax and Accountancy, Real Estate and Construction Studies, and Actuarial and Financial Sciences.
The library also includes collections donated by private libraries: Ernest LLuch, Jesús M. de Miguel and Manuel Sacristán.
Collection and equipment
